Oasis Art

Oasis, formed in Manchester in 1991, emerged as a defining force in Britpop, blending raw energy with melodic brilliance. Initially led by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, the band’s debut album, Definitely Maybe (1994), became the fastest-selling debut album in UK history at the time, with hits like “Supersonic” and “Live Forever” capturing a generation’s defiance and optimism. Their sophomore release, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (1995), propelled them to global stardom, selling over 22 million copies and spawning anthems like “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova.” Their unapologetic swagger, coupled with Noel’s songwriting prowess, cemented Oasis as cultural icons, though internal tensions, particularly between the Gallagher brothers, became a recurring theme.

The band’s later career saw continued success with albums like Be Here Now (1997), which, despite initial hype, received mixed reviews for its excess. Oasis released seven studio albums, including Standing on the Shoulder of Giants (2000) and Heathen Chemistry (2002), maintaining a loyal fanbase despite critical fluctuations. However, relentless feuding culminated in Noel’s departure in 2009, leading to the band’s breakup. Post-Oasis, members pursued solo projects, with Noel’s High Flying Birds and Liam’s Beady Eye finding success. In 2024, the Gallaghers announced a reunion, sparking excitement for a 2025 tour, reaffirming Oasis’s enduring legacy in British rock.
