Why “White Light” Gallery ?
Back in late 2014, I nearly didn't make it. A massive DVT blood clot completely blocked the artery to one of my lungs - a full-on pulmonary embolism, with smaller clots hitting the other. Docs gave me just 30% odds, even suggesting it might be cancer. Stuck on a cancer ward surrounded by people at end of life, I battled wild heart palpitations, blood pressure going mental, drifting in and out on heavy drugs, flashes of white light, and dropping weight like mad. It was an absolute nightmare. Thought that it was game over. I powered through those brutal weeks, and tests finally ruled out cancer. Turns out it was a freak thing, probably from a long flight and severe dehydration.
What kept me going? My loyal dog Fred sneaking in for hospital visits - he was my rock and my main worry was if I'd ever get home to him. I only told a couple of close mates and family at the time; the trauma hit hard, and I'm very private by nature. That's just me. Lying there, I spotted in the papers that neon legend Chris Bracey (God’s Own Junkyard) had passed at young age, which due to my predicament inspired me to want try neon art and gave me a sense of urgency to get on and do it as soon as I left hospital.
Then a surreal twist as I lay in hospital: a phone call from my art publisher to collab with football icon Pelé ! That and the neon art lead to my wild career ride from 2014 to 2019: sell-out Mayfair shows, celeb collectors, famous rappers sliding into my DMs, even my childhood hero David Bowie following me on Instagram. In 2019, I launched my own spot: White Light Gallery. The name? Straight from that experience and the thin line between life and death - the “white light” flashes that reminded me to 'Go for it' while you can. Now, after three years dark, it's resurrecting in spring 2026.
